Twenty seconds a customer, every month
A recharge is the shortest transaction on the platform and the one that brings the same face back to your shop in thirty days. It is also the easiest way to earn on your first day as an agent.
Six things your counter can top up
All of them sit behind one search box. Type a number and the app works out what it belongs to.
Prepaid mobile
Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL in every circle. The bread and butter of the counter and the reason most customers walk in the first time.
Postpaid mobile
The bill is fetched live over BBPS with the due date, so the customer pays the exact amount and gets a proper receipt.
DTH
Tata Play, Airtel Digital TV, d2h, Sun Direct and DishTV. The highest commission slab on this page, and a monthly habit.
Data card
Dongles and pocket routers, still common with students and small offices in towns where fibre has not reached.
FASTag
Top up a tag by vehicle number for any issuing bank. Truck and taxi drivers come back every week for this one.
Broadband top-up
Add data or extend a plan on BSNL, Airtel and most regional ISPs without waiting for the monthly bill.
Metro smart cards are live in the cities that support them, and the BBPS screen carries cable TV, landline and every other monthly bill.
Three steps, start to finish
Type the number
Ten digits is all you need. The operator and circle are detected for you, including ported numbers, and you can override it in one tap if the customer says otherwise.
Pick a plan
The plan list is pulled from the operator, with validity, data and talktime spelt out. Or enter a plain amount if the customer already knows what they want.
Collect cash
Take the money, tap recharge. It lands in a few seconds, the customer gets an SMS from the operator, and your commission is in the wallet before they leave.
A repeat customer is faster still — the number is saved, so it is two taps and the cash.
Plans synced with the operator today
You never quote a price that has changed
Operators revise packs every few weeks. The list in your app comes from the operator, not from a printed chart on the wall.
- Full talktime packs, with the exact balance credited
- Data packs by daily limit and by total GB
- Unlimited combo plans with calls, data and SMS
- Small top-ups for a customer who has ₹20 in hand
- Roaming and international packs
- OTT bundles — the packs customers ask for by name
Recharge is how the rest of the shop fills up
Nobody walks into a new shop to withdraw ₹10,000 the first time. They walk in for a ₹239 recharge, and come back for everything else.
It brings them in
A recharge is a small, low-risk reason to try a new counter.
It repeats
Twenty-eight-day packs mean the same customer is back twelve times a year.
It builds trust
Once the recharge has landed ten times, handing over cash for AEPS is an easy step.
It needs nothing
No scanner, no printer. A phone, a wallet balance and your shop.
Agents who start with recharge usually add BBPS bills within a fortnight and AEPS within a month.
Pending and failed recharges
Operators go down, numbers get mistyped, packs get withdrawn. Here is exactly what happens to the money in each case.
Pending
The operator has taken the request but not confirmed. It reconciles on its own, usually in under fifteen minutes. Do not recharge again — the status in History is the one to trust.
Failed
The full amount goes back to your wallet automatically. Most reversals are instant; the slowest operators take up to 24 hours. You return the customer’s cash or retry on the spot.
Still stuck
If a recharge sits pending past a day, raise it from the transaction screen. Support takes it up with the operator and keeps you updated until the wallet is squared off.
A recharge sent to the wrong number cannot be reversed by anybody — read the ten digits back to the customer before you tap.
Recharge, answered
What if the app detects the wrong operator?
Tap the operator name and pick the right one. Detection handles ported numbers correctly in almost every case, but if a customer ported in the last day or two the database may lag. Ask the customer which network they are on when the number looks new.
How much wallet balance do I need to start?
₹500 activates the account. For a recharge-led counter, ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 in the wallet comfortably covers a full day. You top up by UPI, IMPS or a cash deposit through your distributor, and the balance reflects in minutes.
Can I charge the customer extra on a recharge?
No. The customer pays the plan amount and nothing more. Your earning is the operator’s commission, credited to your wallet. Charging on top is the fastest way to lose a monthly customer to the shop next door.
Do I need a separate app for DTH and FASTag?
No. One MehaiPay login, one wallet and one history for prepaid, postpaid, DTH, data card, FASTag and every BBPS bill. There is nothing extra to install and no separate agent code to remember.
Does a recharge work on a weak connection?
Yes. A recharge request is a few kilobytes, so a basic 2G or 4G signal is enough. If the connection drops mid-way the transaction shows as pending and reconciles by itself — it is never lost.
Your first recharge today
Free registration, KYC in two to four hours, and ₹500 in the wallet is enough to start taking customers.
